ANNUAL SYMPHONY GALA 2010

On May 2, 2010 the annual Gala was held in the Grand Ballroom at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim. Guests enjoyed a custom designed luncheon introduced by the famous Butternut Squash Soup over Apple Compote presented in Parade. A Voice and Silent Auction closed at 1:00 PM followed by the concert presented by the Orange County Wind Symphony and the Orange County Symphony ensembles featuring an all Tchaikovsky program. The highlight was the Violin Concerto performed by soloist SeungJai Chung.

Seungjai’s Musical Background

Life of Seungjai Chung began in the city of Seoul, South Korea as he started his early journey of becoming a well-respected musician. He developed his passion for music while taking lessons in violin at the age of seven. In his youth, Seungjai demonstrated his exceptional talent and skills as a Violin soloist, appearing on the Korean newspaper (HanKook il Bo) as he proudly achieved his second place award in a violin competition. After receiving his Bachelor’s degree in Violin Performance from Dankook University in the year 1999, he earned his master degree in Violin Performance from California State University, Fullerton in 2006. While attending both schools, he received a scholarship as a concertmaster and won several competitions as a violin soloist. He continued his learning under the influence of the following professors: Sonjung Suh, Paul Manaster, and Ernest Salem. After graduating from California State University, Fullerton, Seungjai served as an Orchestra Director at Grace Korean Church since 2006. SeungJai Chung has also been with Orange County Symphony since 2008, serving his first year as the associate concertmaster and second year as the concertmaster. He currently resides in the city of Buena Park with his wife Eunseo, his daughter Rebecca, and his son Caleb. They are waiting anxiously for their baby girl to come in July.
